How to use the aim trainer

  1. 1 Pick a mode. Gridshot keeps three targets up and is the all-round warm-up; flick throws one target at a time far from the last; tracking asks you to hold the cursor on a moving target; click timing measures how fast you react to a target appearing.
  2. 2 Set the length and the target size. Thirty seconds is the usual warm-up round, sixty shows whether your aim holds up. Small targets punish sloppy flicks, large ones let you practise speed. In flick mode you also choose how long a target stays.
  3. 3 Press Start, then click inside the field. The clock starts on that first click, so no time is lost to a countdown. The cursor becomes a crosshair while the run lasts; Esc ends it early.
  4. 4 Read the result: hits, misses, accuracy and the average time per hit, or time on target for tracking. The best score per mode, length and size stays on this device so the next round has something to beat.

Frequently asked questions

Does aim training in the browser carry over to the game?
Partly. Hand-eye coordination, consistent flicks and the habit of not overshooting are general skills, and a few minutes a day do train them. What does not carry over is the feel of a specific game: its field of view, its sensitivity curve, its recoil and movement. Treat this as a warm-up and a measuring stick, not a replacement for playing.
Does the sensitivity match the game?
It can. Motor learning transfers best when the hand-to-screen ratio matches (the specificity of practice principle), and the desktop pointer does not match any game. Switch on "Match my game sens", pick the game and enter your in-game sensitivity: the field then locks the mouse, reads raw counts and moves its crosshair by the game's pixels per count, using the game's yaw and default FOV, so a flick here costs the same hand travel as in the game. Reaction and tracking modes do not depend on the ratio; gridshot and flick do, so use the match for those.
What is a good gridshot score?
It depends on the target size and the length, so compare only like with like. As a rough guide on medium targets over 30 seconds, 60 to 80 hits with over 90% accuracy is solid, and 100 or more hits at that accuracy is fast. The score multiplies hits by accuracy, so missing less is worth more than clicking faster.
How often should I train?
Short and regular beats long and rare. Five to ten minutes before playing, a few times a week, is enough to warm up and to see a trend in the numbers. An hour-long grind mostly trains fatigue, and a tired score tells you little.
Tracking or flicking, which should I practise?
Whichever your game rewards. Flicking is about the first shot landing: snipers, tap-fire weapons, click-heavy games. Tracking is about keeping the crosshair on a moving target through a spray: automatic weapons, hero shooters, anything with sustained fire. Most players are weaker at one of the two, and that is the one worth the extra minutes.
