Utility binds
Each bind is written as a +alias/-alias pair and bound to the key you pick. Leave a key empty to skip that bind.
Buy binds
Assign a key to anything you buy often. Items that share a key land on one line, so the same key can buy the AK on T side and the M4 on CT side.
Rifles
Pistols
SMGs
Armour and gear
Grenades
Viewmodel preset
Classic is the pro standard: FOV 68, weapon far right and low. Couch uses the same position with more weapon bob. Left-handed adds cl_prefer_lefthanded.
1 Pick your binds above. Start with the jumpthrow key, then add buy binds on the numpad and a viewmodel preset. The file on the right updates as you go.
2 Download autoexec.cfg, or copy the text into a new file with that exact name. Make sure the editor does not add .txt to the end.
3 Put the file in the CS2 cfg folder: Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg. The folder is still named after Global Offensive; that is correct.
4 In Steam, right-click Counter-Strike 2, open Properties and add +exec autoexec to the launch options. Start the game and open the console: the line "autoexec loaded" confirms the file ran.
Frequently asked questions
Is a jumpthrow bind allowed in CS2?
Yes. Valve allows binds that combine inputs a player could make by hand, and the jumpthrow alias is accepted in official matchmaking, Premier and on FACEIT and ESEA. Most pro configs carry one. CS2 also made grenade release more consistent than CS:GO, so the bind matters less than it used to, but it still removes timing from the equation.
Where does autoexec.cfg go and do I need the launch option?
The file belongs in the game folder under game\csgo\cfg, next to the other .cfg files. Add +exec autoexec to the Steam launch options as well: guides disagree on whether CS2 picks the file up without it, and the launch option costs nothing. The echo line at the end tells you in the console whether the file ran.
Why does a bind not work?
The usual causes: the file was saved as autoexec.cfg.txt; the game was not restarted after the change; a later line or the in-game settings menu rebinds the same key; or the bind was typed into the console and lost when the game closed, which is exactly what the autoexec fixes. Open the console and type the alias name, for example +jumpthrow, to see whether the alias exists.
Which numpad keys should buy binds use?
The CS2 names are kp_ins for 0, kp_end for 1, kp_downarrow for 2, kp_pgdn for 3, kp_leftarrow for 4, kp_5, kp_rightarrow for 6, kp_home for 7, kp_uparrow for 8 and kp_pgup for 9. A common layout puts rifles on the top row, pistols in the middle, grenades on the bottom row and armour on 0. The picker shows the digit next to each name.
How do I undo everything and go back to the defaults?
Delete or rename autoexec.cfg and remove the launch option. Binds you want gone right away can be cleared in the console with unbind followed by the key name, and any cvar can be typed with its default value; the Reset button here sets every control back so you can generate a clean file again.
