- Does 4000 or 8000 Hz actually help in CS2 or Valorant?
- It trims the delay between hand and crosshair by a fraction of a millisecond compared with 1000 Hz, which sits far below what anyone can feel. Top players use it because the trims add up with a 360 Hz monitor and there is no downside on a strong CPU. On a mid-range PC it can cost frames in some engines, so try it and keep whichever setting gives you stable FPS.

- The browser and the operating system sit between the mouse and this page, and at very high rates they start merging reports. A peak in the thousands already proves the high-rate mode is active; the exact top figure is better measured with the vendor's own tool.
- Why does a wireless mouse read lower than the box says?
- Most wireless gaming mice only reach their top rate with the official dongle, on a fresh battery, with a clear line of sight. Bluetooth mode caps far lower, often around 125 Hz, which is why Bluetooth is for travel and the dongle is for ranked.
- The live number keeps jumping between 500 and 1000. Is the mouse faulty?
- Almost never. The live figure follows your hand speed moment by moment. Look at the peak and at the long-run behaviour: a mouse set to 1000 Hz should hit the high 900s over and over whenever you move fast.
- Does polling rate change my sensitivity or DPI?
- No. DPI decides how far the cursor travels per millimetre of movement; polling rate decides how often the mouse reports its position. You can run 400 DPI at 8000 Hz or 3200 DPI at 125 Hz, and this test only looks at the second one.
